A VOA can also be applied for at the Indonesian Embassy in your home country if you want to avoid standing in an application queue on arrival. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Indonesia, and you must have proof of onward passage (either a return or onward ticket). If you cannot fulfil both of these requirements, you may not be allowed to enter the country.

 FLIGHTS TO BALI

Airlines flying to Bali
A number of airlines fly to Bali's Ngurai Rai International Airport (Airport Code - DPS) located in Denpasar. If travelling from Europe or the US, it is a good idea to break your flight and do a stopover in Singapore or Thailand before continuing on to Bali. Here is a list of airlines flying to Denpasar.

Airlines Flying to Bali from Singapore
Garuda Indonesia, Singapore Airlines (special fares for 2 or 4 travelling together - ask your Travel Agent), Jetstar/Valuair, Qantas/Australian Airlines and Transaero fly to Denpasar direct.  For competitive fares , try Singapore travel agents MISA Travel (airfares.com.sg for online booking) or Chan Brothers.  For SQ flights, good prices can be found on the Singapore Airlines website. Flight time from Singapore to Denpasar-Bali is 2 hr 30 mins. Singapore Airlines has flights departing throughout the day. New Zealand to Bali - There are no direct flights from New Zealand to Bali. However here are some airlines that will get you there from Auckland, Christchurch or Wellington. Qantas (via Sydney or Melbourne), Garuda Indonesia (via Sydney or Melbourne), Singapore Airlines (via Singapore), Royal Brunei Airlines (via Brisbane & Brunei). You may have an overnight stay in Brunei if you take Royal Brunei.

Codeshare Partner Airlines : British Airways and American Airlines are codeshare partners of Qantas, meaning that both BA & AA do not operate their own flights to Bali but you can still book your flight through them and fly to Bali on their codeshare partner Qantas.  GENERAL INFORMATION

Weather Bali has a tropical climate which is warm all year round. The average temperature is about 30 °C during the day with high humidity making it feel alot warmer than it is. There are generally 2 seasons : the dry season from April to October and and the wet season from October to March although rain can be expected at any time of the year. In general expect a lot more rain in the wet season! The best months to visit are April to September, when the humidity is lower and there are more sunny days. The temperatures tend to be cooler in the highlands such as around Ubud, Lake Bratan and Munduk so bring a jumper/cardigan/sweater just in case.

Language
The national language is Bahasa Indonesia, which is used as the medium of instruction in schools. The people of Bali speak a Balinese Language at home, in their community and in the market place. English is commonly spoken throughout Bali particularly in commercial tourist centers of Kuta, Seminyak, Sanur, Denpasar and Ubud.

There are 3 time zones in Indonesia. Bali Time follows Waktu Indonesia Tengah (WITA) or Central Indonesia Standard Time which is GMT +8. Bali time is also the same as Singapore time.

Internet
There are many internet cafes in the tourist areas. Some hotels have free internet connection. In Ubud you will find several internet cafes along Monkey Forest Road and Jalan Hanoman. At Villa Semana, you can use our notebook with internet connection.

Safety
In general Bali is safe and the most harassment you will receive is from the street vendors selling cheap tourist souvenirs. Is Bali safe from terrorists? Answer : Is London safe from terrorists? Is New York safe from terrorists?  If you are concerned, exercise the same type of caution you would when visiting other places that have terrorist attacks.  Avoid crowded tourist areas where possible... many tourists only stay, eat and shop in Kuta, but that is not the only place in Bali. Many tourists are choosing to return to Bali for their holidays because they feel it is safe and realise that they cannot stop going to every country where there has been a terrorist bombing.

Finally... not all terrorists have dark skin and speak foreign languages and bear in mind, a terrorist attack can happen in a Western country, including one where it hasn't happened before.
